Sara has worked in education for over 35 years and feels very passionately about the importance of early intervention to improve school attendance and raise attainment.
Local Authority roles include: Lead for School Attendance, Lead for Early Help Services and Lead for the design and delivery of exclusion prevention and advice services. She has also worked with LAs as a consultant to redesign and restructure Early Help, Children’s Centres and School Attendance Services.
As a qualified mentor and coach, she draws on these skills when working with Multi Academy Trusts to develop and improve their practice in managing school attendance. She is also a very experienced trainer and has designed and delivered training on attendance, safeguarding in education and exclusions across the UK and worked as an accredited Outcomes Star trainer.
She is a member and past president of the National Council for NASWE (National Association of Support Workers in Education) – an organisation that supports its members to improve school attendance and meets with the DfE regularly to develop policy and practice.
