+ VATThis course is designed to equip all staff with a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved in the creation and ongoing management of an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). Participants will gain an overview of each step in the process, including the legal framework, the Early Help Assessment (EHA), and the Education, Health, and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA). The course will also emphasise the importance of person-centred approaches throughout.
Understand the SEND Framework and Legal Context: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, the legal context of the role, and the key steps in supporting children with SEND/ALN, including the Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) process.
Navigate the EHCP Process: Learn how to request an Education, Health, and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA), identify key sections of the EHCP, and understand legal timelines, expectations, and the annual review process.
Collaborate and Focus on SMART Targets: Explore effective collaboration with all parties involved in the EHCP, and learn how to set and implement SMART targets to support the progress of children with SEND/ALN.
Evaluate and Monitor Progress: Develop strategies to measure achievements, evaluate the experiences of pupils with SEND/ALN, and use data effectively for Ofsted inspections and ongoing reviews.
Plan for Transitions and System Improvements: Understand how to ensure successful transitions for SEND pupils, set up efficient review systems, and develop action plans for continuous improvement and effective interventions.
All practitioners dealing with EHCPs including: SENCOs/ALNCOs, teachers, Teaching Assistants, Local Authority SEND Teams, case officers and business/admin support; assessing professionals, such as Educational Psychologists and anyone involved in SEND/EHCPs or interested in learning more about EHCP requirements and processes.
