Responding to Sexualised Behaviours in Primary Schools

Responding to sexualised behaviours in Primary Schools

Course introduction

The OFSTED report (2021) into sexual abuse and harassment between children was clear that sexual abuse and harassment happens in all schools, including those where there are no reported incidents. All schools need to have a robust ‘it could happen here’ culture. This has led a drive to ensure that all school staff are trained to recognise and respond appropriately to sexualised behaviours in school. However, much of this training is directed at secondary school. Sara offers a course that is focused on the needs of primary schools and their pupils. It recognises where these are different from the concerns of secondary schools.

What we will cover throughout the day

  • Develop a better understanding of which behaviours are healthy and which are a concern in children aged 4-11;

  • Feel confident in responding immediately to incidents of sexualised behaviour;

  • Record any incidents in detail and accurately;

  • Better manage the risks of sexualised behaviour by implementing safety plans.
