Course introduction

When it comes to creating positive first impressions, the job of the front desk staff is the most important place of any school/college. The front desk literally is our guest’s first impression and will set the tone for their meeting, appointment etc.

This two-hour course is designed to provide an understanding of the principles and practices of customer-focused roles within the school/college. The session will look at the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to create a positive and professional front of desk environment in keeping with the school/college’s ethos and values. Time will be spent on effective ways to engage parents, pupils, clients and other guests in a professional manner.

  • Learn how to deal with special requests;

  • Look at effective ways to refine your verbal and non-verbal communication skills;

  • Learn how to communicate with ease over the telephone;

  • Learn how to handle complaints and difficult customers in a professional manner;

  • Explore techniques for managing stress and distributing your energy in the workplace;

  • Learn how to think on your feet if the conversation takes an unexpected turn;

  • Practice the use of effective body language;

  • Discover how to multi-task like a professional;

  • Explore ways and best practice for staying safe at the front desk.

This course is perfect for new or experienced school/college receptionists looking to gain best practice receptionist skills and manage the reception area effectively.

About the venue

The course will run via Zoom from 9:30 am – 11.30am, however, the trainer will be available 15 minutes before and after the course times to answer any questions.
