9:30am – 3:00pm live on Zoom. This training course is also available as in-house training.

Many settings have undertaken mental health first aid, or mental health leader training which has provided a basic level of knowledge for settings to improve their support for mental health of students and staff. The Advanced Mental Health Leader course has been written as a follow on for staff wanting to develop a greater level of understanding and take their role further for their own personal development and to improve.

 

Objectives:

• Understand the full role as determined by the Department for Education;
• Ways to ensure mental health is entrenched in setting strategic development;
• Look at improving the emotional intelligence of staff;
• Understand the role of the autonomic nervous system in mental health;
• Look at the impact of stress chemicals on our physically bodies;
• Ways to use the polyvagal theory exercises as part of therapeutic interventions;
• Look at the importance of inclusivity to mental health and wellbeing of students;
• Understand how to improve access to therapeutic interventions for BAME students;
• Unpick the impact of parental mental health issues and how to effectively support;
• Understand the mental health and wellbeing requirements in the curriculum;
• Understand the importance of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Third Waves therapies and application in educational settings.

 

Target Audience:

Aimed at anyone who is interested in developing their skills further as a mental health lead.
If you have attended the mental health first aid, the role of the mental health lead course or similar courses this is a potential next step in your training.

Further information

Times: 9:30am – 3:00pm live online training via Zoom
Trainer will be in the room at 9:15am and until 3:30pm to answer any questions or for further information etc.
Breaks for mid morning and afternoon including an hour for lunch will also be given.
Questions and discussions are welcome throughout the training. We want to make this your day.
