Teach your students to be Brilliant Rubbish Scientists
£155.00 – £185.00 + VAT
Have you ever looked at the content of your lesson and thought about how long it would take to teach if your students were scientifically literate? The answer is usually less than 10 minutes, but we are trapped in a Catch 22 situation that we don’t have time to turn them into scientists as we have too much content to deliver. So we plod on inefficiently.
Rubbish Science aims to develop students into scientists through solving real-world problems in a very structured and scaffolded manner using only rubbish as the equipment. So we can make plastic bottle fly traps, insulated flasks, solar stills and turn plastic bags into fishing lines. The activities are all easy to do, but hard to do well, they have multiple variables and the students may discover something no one else knows. They can also collaborate with less privileged students to help create water, food and health security. Rubbish Science is girl friendly and aims to attract underrepresented groups.
By the end of this course, you will be able to run Rubbish Science Workshops for your students and join our global community making the world a better place through evidence based thinking.
• Develop students scientific literacy;
• Discover a wealth of resources to engage;
• Enthuse and educate students in scientific thinking
